Youth Group- Tree planting

The anthropology team visited a youth group today and, together with the youth group, we managed to plant 80 trees on a one acre plot of land that is owned by the youth group. While working with the youth group I was able to meet several ambitious young people (mainly between the ages of 20 and 40 years). We planted trees in order to provide further habitat for Colobus monkeys and to give back to the environment through conservation. The youth group that we worked with started their group in 2002 and has been working on conservation around Diani Beach ever since. They are great people with a great mindset and goals to accomplish. Several people from the youth group when asked where or how they initially heard of the youth group, responded that they heard of it from a friend, or word –of –mouth.
