On Tuesday 28 July the Handshake Education Team facilitated a live link-up with West Wales Summer University.
The education team: Nicola Merret, Nicola Skilling and Ben Gething, headed by Kirsty McQueen, gathered around their computers in Entebbe, Uganda to link with a research method class from the Summer University Programme at Lampeter University.
The students, at Lampeter, have been closely following the team as they journey around Uganda, researching their website, watching the content that has been produced and questioning the aims and intentions of the tour. Through the link-up, the Lampeter students spoke directly to Handshake volunteers with the hope of understanding the intentions and motives behind volunteering and the affect digital media has had in raising awareness of conservation initiatives throughout Africa.
