Day 12 A Journey to the West of Uganda

After an amazing day of adrenalin rushes we all woke up very early with our bodies cover in bruises from the white water rafting. We had breakfast around 6am and started our journey to Kibale National Park, home to several troops of habituated chimps and the highest concentration of primates in the world.

The trip took us about 11 hours, as we travelled on red sand roads through the south west of Uganda. It amazed me to see the warmth of the Ugandan people and the happiness of children running behind the truck cheering the Muzungus (travellers) and waving their hands.

The journey presented us with the opportunity to admire the flora of this country and have a relaxing lunch in the middle of nowhere, whilst local children approached us to stare and curiously investigate our activities in their territory.

After spending the whole day on the truck we arrived to an amazing hostel, with an incredible view of the lake in between the cloud mountains of Uganda – 320km west of Kampala. Soon after our arrival we experienced strong rain with a number of thunderstorms. We had dinner sheltered from the rain and after we watched a film and had a relaxing evening.

11 hours of a journey. Wow. but a Good Hostel when you arrived
was good. A film and sleep is exactly what you needed.
Never mind the rain and thunder.
